I Don’t Wear Foundation

IMAG2643

This selfie was taken last week with no filters of any kind.

I absolutely detest the feeling of foundation. Even the lightest formula makes my skin feel like it is being suffocated. The same goes for tinted moisturizers, which to me look just as much like a mask as foundations do. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the lovely airbrush effect which foundations can create for the complexion, but in my day to day life, I want my skin to breathe without being weighed down by an extra layer of liquid (yes, I do know about powder foundations, and I don’t like those either). My daily skin makeup routine consists of me using a touch of concealer on two little red areas near the bridge of my nose and then applying some loose translucent power all over my skin to keep my skin from looking shiny. A recent chemical peel which I did made me love my skin even more, because it removed the majority of sun damage I had accumulated over the last couple of years. The results were so dramatic that I had to switch to a lighter concealer after using one particular shade for over ten years.

My mom used to tell me that once I got to a certain age, maybe 30, that I would be forced to wear foundation because I would have blotchy, uneven skin tones. Well, I just turned 49 a couple of weeks ago, and the photo you see here was taken last week. So much for what my mom surmised about the appearance of my skin in later years!

I will wear foundation for photo shoots, video and film shoots, and for fitness and bodybuilding events, but literally the FIRST thing I do when I get home from an event is to wash all my makeup off! I have noticed that I have the kind of face that shows makeup well, and that the smallest amount of makeup can impart a very finished look on me, which always surprises me. Thing is, I don’t want to look made up all the time. I like the natural look of clean skin and just a touch of color on the lips and cheeks.

If you are a woman who would love to go without foundation, but haven’t been blessed by the good skin gods, you might want to consider treatments which can help with the texture and tone of your skin. Chemical peels can rejuvenate and tighten the skin, while removing accumulated sun damage and hormonal brown spots, often with rather dramatic results. My favorite peel is the Perfect Derma Peel (http://www.theperfectdermapeel.com/) which contains Glutathione, Kojic Acid, TCA, Retinoic Acid, Phenol, Salicylic Acid, and Vitamin C. Need A Skin Tune-Up? Get A Chemical Peel!

The-Perfect-Peel-before-and-after
Chemical peels are often used to improve the skin’s appearance. During a medical grade chemical peel, the practitioner applies a chemical solution to the skin, causing the skin to blister and eventually peel off, revealing smoother, less wrinkled skin. They can be performed on the face, neck, and hands.

Specifically, chemical peels achieve the following results in most patients:

Reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the forehead, eye area, cheeks and around the mouth
Lighten brown spots such as freckles or age spots
Soften the appearance of mild scars
Refine skin texture
Reduce acne flareups and improve the appearance of acne scars

The skin becomes more sensitive to sun exposure immediately after a chemical peel, making it even more important to wear sunscreen daily.

The Perfect Derma Peel is the peel of choice for my patients. Perfect Derma Peel is a composite peel consisting of TCA, Retin-A, Salicylic Acid, Phenol, vitamin C, kojic acid, and glutathione. It was developed by Dr. Bram Kaufman, who developed the Vi-Peel, and was rated in the top 3 of new anti-aging products when it was introduced in 2011.

The Perfect Derma Peel is fantastic for reversing the signs of aging, reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and for removing stubborn pigmentation from sun exposure and melasma. A beautiful exfoliating effect occurs as the skin peels over several days, revealing glowing, even skin, and a brighter complexion. It is great for acneic skin, and boosts collagen production. Though fair-complected individuals usually are the best candidates for chemical peels, the Perfect Derma Peel is well suited for many different skin types.

Please bear in mind while a chemical peel confers a mild tightening effect on the skin, it will NOT treat severe skin sagging.

Dimples

I have dimples which have been etched into my face since infancy. I am so grateful that they haven’t disappeared over the years, and appreciate the character they add to my face, but they were definitely deeper when I was younger and had fuller cheeks.

Whenever I see dimples on someone’s face, I consider them blessed because dimples are considered a marker of youth. You might be wondering why some people have dimples, while others don’t. There are a couple of theories which are used to explain the dimple phenomenon. One theory states that splits in the underlying muscle create dimples in the soft tissue, while another theory states that the zygomaticus major muscle in people with dimples is shorter than normal, which pulls on the skin when they smile and forms the characteristic indentation known as a dimple. Whatever the explanation, this little defect is quite sought after, prompting some people to undergo surgery to have dimples made. Though I don’t know anyone who has had such a surgery, evidently there are people who will go under the knife to have dimples created for them by a surgeon.

Dimples are definitely CUTE. They tend to soften a face and make it more attractive. They are more prominent when someone smiles, so they are naturally associated with happy energy. Some Asian cultures even consider dimples a sign of good luck!

Only ONE Suit Left For Sale!

Stacey

This GORGEOUS gold competition suit is the last Bikini division bikini I have available! It is a heavily crystallized Ravish Sands suit with bubble luxe crystals, rhinestone xonnectors on the top, and rhinestone and gold chain connectors on the bottoms. This suit is unique and absolutely stunning! For fit reference, I am 5’5″ and 118 pounds onstage, 34D, 34 inch hips, size zero.

I wore this suit to only one Pro event. I have been reluctant to sell this suit, but I realize that my competition days may be over, so there is no sense holding onto so many suits. I have had a total of NINETEEN suits made, and I still have four of the suits I wore onstage in the past in my personal collection. One is in a shadowbox, one is in my bikini bin for photo shoots, and two are in rotation for any competitions in case I get bitten by the bug to step onstage.

Original price paid for this beauty was $550.

PRICE: $300

My Video Diary For The Perfect Derma Peel

If you are suffering from enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles, or brown discoloration on your skin from sun exposure, you may want to consider having a chemical peel. Medical grade peels are more robust than self-application kits, and produce more significant results. My favorite medium strength peel is the Perfect Derma Peel by Bella Medical Products. The Perfect Derma Peel is suitable for most skin types and consists of a powerful mixture of ingredients:

TCA
Kojic Acid
Retinoic Acid
Salicylic Acid
Phenol
Vitamin C
Glutathione

Please check out my video diary which details my personal experience using the Perfect Derma Peel. The results I achieved were fantastic! I experienced such a dramatic improvement in the brown sun spots I had that the concealer I have used for the past fifteen years is now too dark for me! I enthusiastically endorse the Perfect Derma Peel. If you are in the Los Angeles area, you can book a peel with me: http://www.drstaceynaito.com/#!chemical-peels/comt
